Pharmacodynamic:

The dried leaves of ivy, Hedera helix (Araliaceae), contain saponins, and extracts are reported to have expectorant and spasmolytic actions. Ivy leaf is used for catarrh and chronic inflammation of the respiratory tract.

Therapeutic indication:

Symptomatic treatment of chronic bronchial inflammatory diseases, acute inflammation of the respiratory tract accompanied by cough

 

Dosage and administration:

Adults and children over 12 years: 5-7.5ml 3 times daily.

Children 6-12 years: 5ml twice daily.

Children 2-6 years: 2.5ml twice daily.

Children under 2 years of age: 2.5ml twice daily.

 

It is recommended that you continue to take Prospan Bronchial Syrup for an additional 2-3 days after symptoms have disappeared.

 

Adverse reaction:

Prospan Bronchial Syrup contains sorbitol which may have a laxative effect in some sensitive individuals.

Contraindication:

Avoid Prospan Bronchial Syrup if you have a known allergy to any of the ingredients or are fructose intolerant.

Pharmacokinetic interactions:

Adverse effects have not become known with the simultaneous ingestion of prospan cough syrup and other medicines. This preparation can therefore be combined safely with other medicines such as antibiotics for example.

Special warnings:

Shake the bottle well each time before use.

Pregnancy category is C .About safe use during pregnancy and lactation; the drug should be administered after evaluating benefits over potential risks by the physician.
